Carla Sinclair

Carla’s natural curiosity, love of storytelling and building community is the perfect recipe for a documentary filmmaker.

For more than a decade Sinclair has played a role at Empty Cup Media (ECM), stationed in a Oshawa, Ontario. ECM is a boutique production company collecting and shaping stories from inspiring people to share with the world.

Carla’s volunteer work with the Durham Region International Film Festival helps keep her finger on the pulse of this ever changing industry. She works actively with an incredible board to cultivate a love of engaging with film and film discussion while celebrating the artists creating this work in Durham’s cities and around the world.

In addition to her work in Durham Region, Carla travels to British Columbia to coordinate summer film camps at the college where she honed her craft. Kids from 8-16 years old learn how to take an idea from script to screen while learning valuable leadership and team building skills. Having picked up a camera for the first time when she was only 12, camp is an opportunity for Sinclair to share her love of storytelling with the next generation.
